A Tale of Three Commons (Nordic Walk) (Walk ref 17)

Saturday 12 Oct ~ 9:30 AM

It’s a hilly one!  Put your Nordic walking poles to the test on this roller coaster walk exploring the Commons heritage of the Chilterns.  We step out from Maidensgrove and Russell’s Water Common along the Oxfordshire Way towards Northend common.  An historic hollow way then takes us down towards Turville Wood before we climb up again to the commons of Turville Heath and Summer Heath.  Here we find The Barn cafe, a little gem hidden away in the hills and a great place to refuel.  A few more ‘ups and downs’ that take us back to Maidensgrove with the option of some well earned refreshment at the Five Horseshoes pub.  A glorious autumn walk with plenty of interest along the way!  Total ascent 1250ft (380m).
