Brakspear beer, beechwoods and brewing (ref 85)

A 6.5 mile walk starting and finishing at the Bull in Henley-on-Thames, home of Brakspear's Bell Street Brewery. This scenic walk will take you through the historic backstreets of Henley-on-Thames before climbing up into the Chiltern Hills, through classic beech woodlands and along ancient drovers routes. There will be a chance to have a free tour of the micro-brewery at the end of the walk and a special 'home-cooked pie and trimmings' lunch can be pre-booked.

Meeting arrangements

Meet at the Bull on Bell Street - 57-59 Bell Street, Henley-on-Thames RG9 2BA. There is all day parking at Henley on Thames railway station or at Henley Rugby Club, both a 10 minute walk away.

There are 5 stiles along the route and a couple of moderately steep climbs.

Further Information

Brakspear is offering a free tour of the micro-brewery at the end of the walk led by head brewer Malcolm and assistant brewer Richard. The brewery rarely holds open tours so this a great opportunity for cask ale fans. There is a special menu for walkers wanting to stay on for lunch, £11 for a pie meal which must be pre-booked in advance with your walk ticket.  Choose between steak & ale, chicken, leek & ham or a veggie pie!
