The Chiltern Tourism Network was formed in 2010, when, over coffee and donuts, a group of local tourism businesses and organisations began looking at ways in which they could work collaboratively to develop and grow a vibrant visitor economy. The focus then was on raising awareness of the Chilterns as a visitor destination and generating more overnight visits.
An application was made to the Chilterns LEADER fund with support and guidance from the Chilterns Conversation Board, a key partner in this venture. Funding was obtained, along with financial support from businesses that has enabled the development of this website. The content draws inspiration from what makes the Chilterns unique and is arranged around six themes; the countryside, historic houses and gardens, food & drink, film locations, market towns and the four seasons.
The website is editorially-led and does not aim to list each and every business in the Chilterns, but instead to raise awareness of the tourism offer and then link to existing online resources that already play a valuable role in the communication of this valuable resource.
