Wrap up warm, bring your dog and join Father Christmas at Ashridge on 10 December for a festive group walk around Meadleys Meadow. Be sure to wear your merriest outfit as there will be prizes for the best-dressed owners.
Ashridge's first ever Santa Paws Walk takes place on 10 December and is a chance for owners and their four-legged friends to get together and enjoy the holiday season. The walk is around 1 mile (1.6km) in length, and will take about half an hour.
Meet on Monument Green at noon where you will find Father Christmas waiting for you. The walk costs £1 per dog, and all money raised goes towards the conservation and upkeep of the wider estate.
Please keep the antlers, tinsel, bobble hats and baubles on the people rather than the pets. Dogs use their ears, head positions and body posture to communicate with each other, so it’s best not to place any articles on dogs that interfere with this. Dressing dogs up can cause them great stress, so please don’t put anything on your dog that it isn’t used to wearing.
All dogs taking part in this walk must be on a lead at all times. The walking trail may be shared by cyclists, horse riders and families with small children so please keep your dog under close control.
We provide special dog waste bins around the estate - the nearest ones are in the main visitor centre car park or on Duncombe Terrace next to the monument. Please pick up after your dog and use the bins provided.
There will likely be many dogs and people onsite for this event so we don't recommend this walk if your furry friend is a bit timid. For other areas of the estate to go for a stroll please pop into the visitor centre and pick up a free self-guided walking leaflet from the front desk or buy an ordinance survey map from the shop. Happy Howlidays!
