Bus one way walk back: Marlow - Henley (ref 7)

- Cancelled, please see note under 'booking details' - This is a day-long linear walk of 11 miles. Starting at Marlow, we catch the bus along the picturesque Thames Valley to the charming market town of Henley. Spurred on with that tingling of excitement as the bus leaves us to walk back, we’ll gradually make the high ground of Fawley before descending into the beautiful Hambleden valley. Then it’s onwards across classic Chiltern farmland and beech woods before we finally descend into Marlow, as popular now as a riverside resort as it was in the 18th Century.

Meeting arrangements

Meet at Marlow West Street bus stop, opposite Platt's Car Showrooms, SL7 2NJ, Grid Ref SU847 864, in good time to catch the 09:55am Arriva operated 800 bus to Henley. Parking is available throughout Marlow, including a small car park at the bus stop.

Walk Leader

Stuart Fletcher, Chiltern Conservation Board volunteer. Stuart Fletcher lives on the edge of the Chiltern Hills. As a walk leader for over 30 years, he likes to roam through the beautiful landscapes they offer, pointing out interesting things to people.

Public Transport Links

Marlow railway station is a branch from the GWR at Maidenhead. Marlow is also served by buses from High Wycombe and Henley.

Accessibility

The walk does involve some stiles and steep paths, which could easily be slippery. It is for people who are confident in their ability to walk the distance.

Further Information

Participants need to bring a packed lunch and enough fluids for the day. Clothing and footwear needs to be suitable for a day's walk in unpredictable English weather. There are public toilets in Marlow and at the start of the walk in Henley. The distance covered might limit it to older children.

This walk has been removed from the programme due to the walk leader having a change of circumstances. Our apologies - those who have booked will be contacted, and if anything changes we will reinstate the walk.
