Watlington Hill History Walk

27th August 2.30pm

A two hour gentle walk led by Tim Horton, looking at the rich history of Watlington and the surrounding area. From the top of Watlington Hill we see how William the Conqueror circled his enemies; the Observer Corps kept watch and Watlington was prepared for nuclear attack. Emerging  from the pine wood with the Red Kites soaring we hear their stories and also take in the history of the yew forest and the chalk White Mark cut into the hillside. From poets to aristocrats to Civil War battles, the fascinating history of this area will be revealed.
